Resistance Café
Saturday, May 10, 10am-Noon
Fellowship Hall
Our resistance workshops on “Finding Our Place,” “Building Relationships,” and “Taking
Action” that happened over the past several months were a great time to gather with others who are working in resistance spaces. Going
Forward, UUCP would like to invite the
community to gather on a monthly basis for
opportunities to connect, envision, dream, plan, and be together. Maybe it is a time for craft activists to share their projects or a time to make your next best sign for an upcoming action or a time to test an idea for a future action. It will be whatever you make of it. UCCP will provide the space, a small project, plates, and napkins. Bring yourself, your projects, and your ideas! A snack to share is always welcome.

Do you hope to face our human mortality with less fear and more curiosity? With less conformity and more creativity? If that sounds like you, welcome to Date with Death Club, where we explore topics of aging, death, and dying. This is our final session of the current cycle. Contact Jesi Laughlin at DLRE@PeoriaUUChurch.org if you are interested in co-facilitating a new cycle starting later this calendar year.
Reflecting upon dying and death can sound morbid, but it can connect us with what is truly meaningful, as well as with beauty in the world and gratitude in our hearts. This session will use easy-to-understand poetry to help us find our own way of understanding our mortality.

Sacred Rest You were not just born to center your entire existence on work and labor. You were born to heal, to grow, to be of service to yourself and community, to practice, to experiment, to create, to have space, to dream, and to connect. ~ Tricia Hersey in Rest Is Resistance You deserve time to rest. Come and practice in community. In-person Sacred Rest on Feb. 9 will be in the Senior High Youth Room. Bring water, a journal, and/or blanket if you wish. On fourth Sundays (next on Feb. 23), the Central IL Religious Educators will facilitate a guided rest experience on Zoom for our four congregations in Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, and Springfield. Create a comfortable nest with a blanket or pillow, grab some water, and bring a journal if you wish. We’ll draw from the work of Tricia Hersey.
