Come learn about the nutritional and medicinal uses of herbs in community. We will explore the history of Peoria through its cuisine: the Native, French, German, Lebanese, and more. The third workshop in our four-part Resistance series will focus on actions from big to small that engage us all! We will share resources for things happening now, ways for every activist type to be involved, and work together to make plans for where we go from here. Annual Campaign Kick-Off Luncheon ~ Sunday, April 13
Please join your fellow UUs on Sunday, April 13, immediately after church for our lively Annual Campaign Kick-Off Luncheon! Lunch (including a vegan option) will be provided by the Annual Campaign Team. This is the launch of our 2025-26 pledge campaign that will provide 77% of the support of our work for the year beginning July 1, 2025. Our theme, “Rise to the Moment,” speaks to the great need for a safe place and a group of people who will stand up for what is loving, just, and equitable in this highly volatile time in our society.
Our campaign will be shorter this year, so we are counting on YOUR prompt response. Key dates are:
• April 13 ~ Distribution of pledge materials.
• May 4 ~ Please pledge by this date.
• June 1 ~ Congregational budget meeting where members vote on the income and expenses for 2025-26.

National Healthcare Decision Day (NHDD) is an annual initiative to encourage and empower people to begin conversations about their wishes for end-of-life care. This year, you are invited to set April 16 as the date by which you plan to have a conversation with someone important in your life about your or their wishes. Maybe you can even normalize this with people in your social network. These aren’t just conversations we have with doctors and lawyers, and we don’t have to wait until we’re sick to have them.

The Year to Save the Earth: A Multimedia Experience by Jim Scott

Mixing powerful songs and beautiful projected images, The Year to Save the Earth takes us from celebration to grieving, protest, learning, and a positive vision for the planet. Jim Scott’s lyrical melodies and outspoken poetry celebrate what’s beautiful, amazing, and fragile, nurturing a spirit of collective action for our planet.
The message is that the time is now! As well as hard reality, the program’s message is one of optimism. There are many invitations for people to join in the singing and then to get involved in environmental action. Facing the urgency of the environmental crisis, the songs challenge us to feel, to learn, and to act.
About Jim Scott: Prolific composer guitarist Jim Scott brings a warmth and humor with his jazz and world music influenced songs. Recently, Jim received an NEA grant to produce The Year to Save the Earth, a multimedia concert combining Jim’s outspoken songs with beautiful and striking images. One of the originators of the Unitarian Universalist Green Sanctuary Program, Jim also compiled the Earth and Spirit Songbook, an anthology of over 100 songs of Earth by many contemporary composers.
